Building upon her five year research into the relationship between religious iconography and romance, First Fruit is an explosively colorful and physical demanding collaboration between Nashville based New Dialect and Rosie Herrera. Choreographed in 2020 and set to the music of Juan Gabriel, Buika, Frank Sinatra and more, First Fruit explores the indelible ways that we are shaped by all we have loved and lost and how fiercely we hold onto what we believe.
New Dialect is a nonprofit contemporary dance collective and training program based in Nashville, TN. First Fruit was created as a culmination of research begun at New Dialect's Winter Intensive where Rosie lead a week long dance theater workshop entitled Brutal Elegance.
